1) Terminator

The Terminator is a 1984 American science fiction action film written and directed by James Cameron, produced by Hemdale Film Corporation and distributed by Orion Pictures. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Michael Biehn, and Nick Stahl, it is the first work in the Terminator franchise. The original idea was to have Schwarzenegger play a dupe controlled by an artificial intelligence that would create an army of Terminators from human tissue.

2) 2001 Space Odyssey

Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 film foreshadowed artificial intelligence in a big way. HAL 9000 is an artificial intelligence that controls many of a space station’s systems, but its development takes an unexpected turn. [1] Artificial intelligence isn’t just science fiction, it already exists and is growing every day. The possibilities are endless, but it may take some time before we can see them manifested in our day-to-day lives.

3) I, Robot

This 2004 blockbuster based on a collection of short stories by Isaac Asimov, with Will Smith as a cop in future Chicago where androids are commonplace. Set in 2035, Smith’s character investigates a murder involving an advanced robot (played by Alan Tudyk) that is self-aware and can make its own decisions. There are many more examples of artificial intelligence in film than just these three.

4) Blade Runner

30 years ago, Ridley Scott gave us a vision of what it would be like to live in a world where AI was commonplace. The result was one of his best films—and one that remains exceptionally relevant today. Rather than telling a linear story, Blade Runner forces viewers to piece together exactly what happened from scattered bits of information. A small handful of humans co-exist with synthetic beings on Earth: They're not androids; they're indistinguishable from us.

6) Ex Machina

Ex Machina follows a programmer who is selected to participate in a groundbreaking experiment in artificial intelligence by evaluating the human qualities of a breathtaking female A.I. Can you tell that I’m interested in AI and movies? If you haven’t seen Ex Machina, go watch it! It does an amazing job at showing what an A.I.

7) A.I. Artificial Intelligence

The film tells a story about David, a robot who is programmed to love. His mother believes she can make him feel real love if she could only make him look and act more like a real boy. She sends David away to live with her brother, Henry Swinton, and his wife Monica, who treat David as their own son. Soon after that, Monica dies in an accident; however Henry blames David for it. From then on he starts treating him like a slave.

8) Transcendence

Although Transcendence had a dismal performance at the box office, it did quite well in terms of critical reviews and show that AI is still an idea worth exploring. The film follows artificial intelligence researcher Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) who is shot by an anti-technology extremist group but miraculously survives—only to realize that he has transformed into something non-human.

9) Her

Her is a 2013 American romantic science-fiction drama film written, directed, and produced by Spike Jonze. It marks Jonze's solo screenwriting debut. The film follows Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix), a man who develops a relationship with Samantha (Scarlett Johansson), an intelligent computer operating system personified through a female voice. Portions of the film are seen from Samantha's perspective, via computer-generated imagery.
